Camouflage smocks: the camouflage smock was a loose-fitting pullover without collar or pockets. It had a breast slit, reinforced on both edges, that was laced up by a cord passing through five pairs of grommeted eyelets. The wide bloused-fashion sleeves closed at the wrist by a narrow band closed at the rear by one of two buttons. There was a vertical or diagonal opening on each side of the chest to allow easy access to the pockets of the field blouse, with these openings often having buttoned flaps. Variations of the smock had slanted inside pockets with buttoned flaps on the hips. A drawstring fastening cord in the waistline allowed for a tighter fit. Although sleeve rank insignia were prescribed for wear, the smocks were most often worn without any grade insignia.
