CLICK HERE TO BUY Fur caps: there appears to have been no standard issue pattern fur cap as there were many variation models. Fur caps were usually made of white, dark brown, or black sheepskin, various colored rabbit fur, and artificial fur. The most common pattern was the rabbit fur variety with field grey cloth. The front forehead flap turned up, and the ear flaps could be worn up,secured above the head by a button and tape loop. A variety of insignia was worn (and sometimes none)on the forehead flap- national emblem as found on the peaked cap, with or without metal cockades, the latter with or without metal oakleaf wreath; the large metal national em- blem as found on the white summer tunic; embroidered national emblems as found on the field cap, or the larger variety as found on the field blouse, with or without machine embroidered cockade. <uniform & traditions of the german army 1933-1945 by John R.
