Police Long Service Award was instituted by Adolf Hitler in January,1938，and was awarded to members of the police force who met qualifications based on length of service.It has three grades,eight-year service award, eighteen-year service cross and twenty-five-year service cross.
Police 18 years service award was a silver-gray four-pointed cross suspended from a cornflower blue ribbon with a woven police insignia.The obverse bore a national eagle surrounded by a wreath,the reverse bore the inscription Für treue Dienste in der Polizei(""For faithful service in the Police"")
